Mammoet and Tiong Woon Corporation Strategically Partner to Expand Presence in Thailand and Surrounding Markets

Dutch heavy lifting and transportation experts, Mammoet, and Singapore-based Tiong Woon Corporation (TWC) have formed a strategic alliance to strengthen their market positions in Thailand and the surrounding regions.

Singapore-headquartered Tiong Woon Corporation (TWC) and Mammoet, based in the Netherlands, will collaborate on logistics and turnkey projects related to comprehensive heavy lifting services. The agreement was signed by Mammoet Asia Holdings and Tiong Woon Corporation. Tiong Woon Corporation announced this partnership in December and acquired a fleet of heavy lifting and transportation equipment from Mammoet.

Mammoet stated that the new joint venture “marks a significant milestone, leveraging the collective strengths of both companies’ services and assets to create a robust entity capable of providing comprehensive turnkey solutions for projects across various industries.” Tiong Woon, already operational in Thailand, added that it would “significantly broaden the range of services offered to existing and new clients, especially in the heavy lifting and transportation market in Thailand.”

Embarking on a New Chapter of Growth Angguan Hwa, Executive Director and CEO of Tiong Woon, commented on the new alliance, saying, “We are pleased with the strategic alliance with Mammoet in Thailand, bringing opportunities to our organization and clients. This marks a new chapter in the group’s development journey. We are committed to delivering a broader range of excellent services to our clients. This investment also underscores our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of customers and partners and our vision of the group as a leader in the high-value, large, and complex heavy lifting and transportation solutions market in Thailand and the broader region. We believe that expanding our strategic partnership with Mammoet in the Asia-Pacific region signals further growth for the company in this area.” Tom Rutgrink, Mammoet’s Business Director for the Asia-Pacific region, added, “Tiong Woon is a natural choice as our partner in Thailand. Their experience and local presence complement Mammoet’s own construction capabilities, expertise, and the advantage of having the industry’s largest fleet of heavy lifting and transportation equipment. We look forward to harnessing our collective capabilities to provide integrated project solutions and drive success for clients in Thailand and other regions.”

To solidify its position in Thailand, Tiong Woon purchased heavy lifting, transport, and heavy transport equipment from Mammoet. Tiong Woon stated, “This strategic investment marks a crucial moment in the company’s growth trajectory,” enabling the group to “undertake new, larger, and more complex projects for existing and new clients.”

Tiong Woon holds significant influence in its home country, Singapore, with 12 subsidiaries, including three in Malaysia, two each in India, Indonesia, and Thailand, as well as branches in Brunei, Bangladesh, the Philippines, China, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka. In 2023, the group reported revenue of SGD 135.8 million (USD 101 million). It ranks 19th in the ICST 2023 IC100 global largest crane-owning companies. Mammoet is currently the world’s largest heavy lifting and transportation company, consistently holding the top position in the aforementioned IC100 rankings, with annual revenue exceeding USD 1 billion.
